From application to cockpit

Connect Discord, tell us a bit about yourself and how and where you fly. Your country and postal code determine your division.

We take a look usually 1–2 days
Someone from the team reads your application. You get an instant confirmation with a status link – and a short update if it takes longer than twelve hours.

Your Terminal access by email
You receive a link, set your password and get your account with your own WTB number. The Terminal has the fleet, routes, statistics and your career.

Tracker & check flight whenever you like
Set up our tracker and fly one traffic circuit at Stuttgart. The tracker evaluates it automatically – no examiner, no appointment, retry as often as you like.

Start flying right away
Single-engine piston and turboprop aircraft are unlocked. Book flights, fly routes, earn ranks. Larger types like the A320 come later via type ratings – with a trainer at your side.
Rather talk first? You don’t have to – but you can. Every division has a regional lead who is happy to help: with the setup, your first flight or just a hello on Discord. You will see who yours is while applying.
One traffic circuit. That’s it.
Instead of an exam appointment you fly once around the airfield. It shows us that simulator, tracker and basics work. This is checked:
- Take-off and landing at Stuttgart (EDDS)
- In a single-engine piston aircraft from our fleet
- Always within 5 NM of the airfield
- Never higher than 3,000 ft above the airfield
- Landing softer than 400 ft/min, on the runway, exactly one
- Flight time 5 to 25 minutes
- No time acceleration, slew or pause

An airline, not an obligation
A real route network
Scheduled and charter flights with our own fleet – from regional hops to long-haul. You book, fly and see what your flights earn the airline.
People who fly along
Group flights, events and the occasional real-life meetup. Prefer flying solo? That works just as well.
Your pace
No minimum hours, no attendance rules. If you can’t fly for two months, that’s fine.
What we ask for
Name, email, year of birth, city and country (postal code for Germany), your network, what you are looking for and a few sentences about you. Plus your Discord account and – if you fly on VATSIM – your VATSIM ID.
Who sees it
Only our leadership team, in the Terminal and in an internal, non-public Discord channel. Nobody else – no selling, no ads, no tracking on this site.
How long
If you join, for as long as you are a member. If we decline, we delete it after six months at the latest – immediately on request.
FAQ
Does it cost anything?
No. AirWürttemberg is a non-commercial hobby project; membership is and stays free.
Do I need an interview?
No. Once reviewed, you get your access directly. If you would like to talk anyway, your regional lead is happy to – voluntarily.
How long does the review take?
Usually one or two days. If it takes longer than twelve hours, you get a short update by email. Your status link shows the progress at any time.
Do I need VATSIM or IVAO?
No. Many of us started offline. If you want to try online flying, we are happy to help.
Which simulator do I need?
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020/2024 or X-Plane. Our tracker runs on Windows.
What if I fail the check flight?
Just fly it again. There is no limit and no waiting time. Every attempt shows which criteria were met.
Do I have to be from southern Germany?
No. Our roots are in Württemberg, but we have divisions for all of Germany, Austria and an international one. Our community speaks German, English and Spanish.
Is there a minimum age?
Yes, 16.
